Finland is taking shape as a popular destination for international students who wish to study aboard.
Currently bachelor’s degree programmes in Finland are taught in English which are offered mostly by universities of applied sciences (UAS), whereas most of the master’s programmes taught in English are offered by universities.
Finland Government Scholarships for International Students
The Finland Government Scholarship Pool programme is open to young researchers from all academic fields. The scholarship cannot be applied for Master’s level studies or post-Doctoral studies/research.
Application Deadline: 15th February. CIMO will inform both successful and unsuccessful candidates of the results by June annually.

Value of Scholarship: The scholarship includes:
a monthly allowance of EUR 1500. The allowance is sufficient for one person only.
NB: Expenses due to travel, international or in Finland are not covered by the programme. Scholarship recipients are recommended to make arrangements for sufficient insurance coverage for their stay in Finland.
Duration of Scholarship: The Finnish Government Scholarship Pool programme can be applied for a study/research period of 3-9 months, 9 months being the maximum time for an individual applicant.
Aalto University Scholarship
Aalto University provides a wide range of Master’s programmes which are taught entirely in English, targeted for all nationalities. Aalto University offers a number of full scholarships for non-EU/EEA (international) citizens in these programmes. The scholarships will be allocated in order of merit.

Value of Scholarship: The scholarship is allocated for a maximum of two academic years and covers the tuition fee, living and studying expenses.
Category A (Gold): Full Scholarship 16,000 Euro (2x 8,000 Euro per academic year)
Category B (Silver): Full Scholarship 16,000 Euro (2x 8,000 Euro per academic year)
Category C (Bronze): 50% of Full scholarship 8,000 Euro (2x 4,000Euro per academic year)

University of Oulu Masters Scholarships for International Students.
The Finland scholarships are aimed at students studying for a Master’s degree in the University of Oulu two-year international Master’s programmes.
In order to retain the scholarship in the following year of study, a student must have completed 55 ECTS by the end of the previous academic year. If a student does not achieve this requirement, they will be liable to pay the full international tuition fee if they wish to complete their Master’s degree programme.
Application Timeline: 24th January for studies starting in August.
Number of Awardees: it usually varies depending on the field of study; usually from 10 to 40 maximum.
Value of Scholarship: The tuition fee is an academic fee and thus covers the costs of tuition. The tuition fee does not cover the living costs such as accommodation, meals, and transportation. All students are required to finance their living costs by themselves.
Duration: 1 year
University of Helsinki Scholarships for International Students
Best scholarship programme is intended for excellent students from outside the EU/EEA who want to do a Master’s programme at the University of Helsinki. Grants can be applied for while applying to the University of Helsinki’s Masters’ programmes.

Tuition fees range from 13 000 to 18 000 Euros.
